Program Spotlight: Dental Program
Clinic Structure:
- The objective of the Angels’ Camp (AC) oral health clinic is to diagnosis and treat diseases of the mouth and oral cavity including; dental caries, periodontal disease, premature tooth loss, oral cancer and other oral disease and manifestations of systemic disease.
- The oral health clinic will assess oral health after a review of systems, general health exams and medical clearance has been made for individuals by the camp’s medical clinic and internal medicine physician. Patients will be screened for Oral Cancer, Oral manifestations of HIV and other systemic diseases (e.g. diabetes, Lupus). Patients will than be assessed for dental needs based on specific criteria.
- All patients will receive full radiographic examination as well as periodontal examination.
Treatment:
- All teeth deemed to have a hopeless prognosis due to advanced dental caries or severe periodontal disease will be slated for extraction. All teeth deemed able to be restored with simple restorations will be restore with composite resin materials. All patients will receive dental prophylaxis. Patients with active periodontal disease will be administered conservative periodontal treatment consisting of conservative periodontal treatment including scaling and root planning and possible antibiotic therapy regiments. Function loss and esthetic loss due to missing teeth will be restores with removable partial dentures.
Personnel:
- Clinic Coordinator/ Manager – will be in charge of overall management of the clinic including administrative duties, production of reports, management of records, making of appointments. Salary 40K/yr
- Dental/Surgical Assistant – Assist Clinicians in the performance of clinical procedure and management of Supplies, materials and equipment. Salary 37K/yr.
- Dental Assistant – Assist Clinicians in chairside procedures, responsivle for management of supplies, materials equipment, maintainace of equipment. Responsible for infection control, OSHA compliance.
- Entry Level Dentist – Perform Cleaning prophylaxis procedures on patients as well as simple restorative, and minor surgical procedures 50K/yr
- Managing Dentist – Responsible for the overall performance of the clinic and oversight of the other personnel. A well experienced clinician capable of advanced oral surgery procedures and experienced in removable prosthetics, i.e. full and partial dentures. Responsible for clinic meeting stated objectives and goals. Salary 250K/year.
